Salisbury Chiropractic & Weight Loss
Chiropractic treatment is used by many back pain sufferers to help alleviate symptoms which may have gone on for years.
Chiropractors will often recommend regular check ups to reassess, correct alignment ,and any necessary additional treatment, which could prevent future problems.
An area often over looked by the individuals is their weight and how this can affect their joints and back.
Excess weight can affect:
1. Ankles – excess weight can often be a contributing factor to fallen arches of the feet which in turn can have a knock on effect further up the body i.e. knee pain.
2. Knees – premature wear and tear of the structures within the knee joints leading to early knee replacements - which may only last 10 – 15 years before a replacement is required.
3. Hips – similar to knees, with the excess load-bearing, there is unnecessary wear and tear to these structures.
4. Chronic Lower Back Pain – often diagnosed as non-specific lower back pain. When you consider the additional load placed on the spine, which pulls it out of its natural shape and creates increased strain upon all of the supporting structures in the lower back area, it is no wonder many people are suffering with lower back pain and need continual adjustments by a Chiropractor or Osteopath.
Addressing any excess weight you’re carrying should be considered as part of any treatment programme, backs, knees, hips etc.
