As successful as this programme seems to be, it may not be suitable for you.

If you prefer to keep your health and weight a private matter - only to be shared with either an expert one-on-one or with a small group of individuals in a similar situation - you may not find that at Slimming World.

When looking for weight loss programmes, here are 3 things that should be present and actively promoted:

1. Behaviour modification – unless your behaviour is changed long-term, weight loss and good health will always elude you. Your weight loss programme should include some coaching and clear actions - steps to help you start to achieve the necessary behaviour changes for long-term success.

2. Healthy eating – understanding calories is not enough. For proper understanding when it comes to eating for good health, you need to appreciate the effects that certain foods will have on your energy levels and emotional moods.

3. Exercise – walking or parking your car a little further away from your place of work are good starting points and easily implemented. For real significant benefits, you need to be shown how the correct exercise can not only help you lose weight, but keep it off and burn more calories even when you sat chatting to a friend.

If you can satisfy yourself that a weight loss programme contains all of the above, then it’s certainly worth investigating further.
